Dear Friends,
Our dental practice has grown alongside the families we serve!
For more than forty years, our dental practice has grown and evolved alongside the families we serve. What began as three independent practices—those of Dr. Ernie Thompson, Dr. David Nevills, and Dr. Jay Slater—has become one unified team dedicated to exceptional, patient-centered care.
We are truly grateful for the trust you have placed in us at every stage of this journey. As we begin a new year, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks and share a few exciting updates about the future of our practice.
Practice Growth and Expansion
ecause of your continued support, our practice has been growing rapidly! To better serve you, we are excited to announce an upcoming expansion of our building! We will be adding three new treatment rooms, increasing our parking capacity, and expanding our schedule to improve access and reduce wait times.
(P.S. who knew we could be THIS excited for more parking?!) We anticipate beginning the remodel in the first quarter of 2026. During construction, we will remain open as normal. To ensure your care continues uninterrupted, we will also be adding more hygiene days and offering Friday appointments in the months ahead.
New Associate - Welcoming Dr. Michael Phan!
At the same time, we’re excited to welcome Dr. Michael Phan to our dental family! Dr. Phan brings a fresh perspective, excellent clinical skills, and a genuine passion for helping patients feel comfortable and confident in their smiles.
We know you’ll enjoy getting to know him as much as we already have, and we look forward to continuing to provide the personalized care you expect—now with an expanded team to serve you even better.
A Note From Dr. Phan:
Throughout my career, I’ve cared for patients of all ages and truly believe in treating everyone as I would treat my own family. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping anxious patients feel calm, building trust, and creating a positive dental experience.
Outside the office, my wife and I enjoy spending time with our dog and two birds, traveling, hiking, and exploring nature. We felt the Pacific Northwest calling us, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community.
I look forward to caring for your smiles for years to come! (P.S. I’m still learning how to pronounce Willamette and Couch Street!)”
A Fond Farewell
After many years of caring for our community, we are celebrating the well-earned retirement of Dr. Thompson. While we will deeply miss his clinical expertise, gentle chairside manner, and dedication to our patients, we are incredibly grateful for the trust and relationships he built over the years.
He is looking forward to spending more time with his wife, Jennifer, and to dedicating a bit more energy to his already-competitive golf game! Dr. Thompson leaves behind a legacy of compassionate, high-quality care that will always be part of our practice. Thank you, Dr. Thompson, for your many years of service!
Thank you, Dr. Thompson, for your many years of service and care.
Well, we understand there is a lot to unpack here! Our team at Slater Family Dental is available for you, your family, and friends. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Thank you for being a part of our dental family. We are excited for what’s ahead and look forward to serving you for many years to come!
Warmly,
